I served with A. Co. 1st Combat Engineer Btn. in Vietnam from the end of January 1968-February 1969. For around 90% of my tour I was attached to 1/1 On Operation Hue City, Pegasus, Scotland II, Napoleon/Saline and Meade River. In June 1968 I was attached to H&S/C. Company on Hill 558. Toward the end of June, we received a few mortar rounds and one of them was a dud. I volunteered to blow up the dud which was in the entrance way to one of the Grunt's fighting hole. While I was setting up the charge, one of the Grunts was taking pictures of me and after all these years, I was thinking it would be nice to have one of those pictures, albeit a very long shot. I went with 1/1 to Hill 689 the first week in July and that was the worst experience of my entire tour. I saw some very brave Marines on 689. Thanks for letting me share and Semper Fi. Buck Davis

I checked registry and I guess the guys I served with in guns are to DUMB to use E-mail. I only heard fgrom one guy in 1st platoon named Joe Ford and our corpsman. I guess Sgt. Joe Delaney, and Sgt. Gary( Bud) Buddles, Gary Wagner, Elmer F. Scott, and Carlton Gibbs are not technologically adapted. If any of you can e-mail contact me. I know were not all dead already. SNAGS
